My daughter and I both love Halloween and have been looking up fun food Halloween treats all month. We were so inspired, we just had to have some friends over so we could try them out.
I'm usually a "no" on candy, even on Halloween! But I found out that Swedish Fish were vegan, so I decided that I would get them for a creepy effect.
The "devils dentures" recipe came from here. I didn't need to use any lemon water because they disappeared so fast. And, I skipped the honey.
These are my basic apple cupcakes. The step-by-step recipe is in the blog below, Cupcakes for Heather. The only thing I changed is that I added some sauteed and then pureed spinach to make them green on the inside ~ and chocolate chips.
I was most happy with my severed fingered cookies. I have not made cookies in years, and not since going vegan, so I had no idea how these would turn out. They were easy, effective, and delicious!
1/2 cup earthbalance
1/2 cup sugar (I used brown sugar)
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp bk pwd
1/4 tsp salt
a splash of water
I mix the sugar and earth balance first.
I mix the flour, bk pwd & salt in a separate bowl.
Then I mix them together and add water to make it all stick.
I let the dough harden in the fridge, and then roll the dough into fingers. Add almond slivers for nails, and jelly for blood. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.
I am so thankful to the witches, cats, foxes, and ghosts that came to eat our creepy treats.
