You know how you used to have pay a lot of money to get a website built, and then you found out you can make a free one on Weebly if you're crafty? Well, that's how I feel about pie crust. You could do things like use a Cuisinart or freeze the butter and grate it, pre make it, chill it, and roll it out later. I've done all of those things. But now, I make my one bowl pie crust and it's honestly just as good, with using way less time, effort and dishes.
I started off in another bowl, but you can just do this first step in your pie dish. I pour some flour, and piece in some earthbalance butter. I use a little more flour to butter. Then I smash the butter in with a fork. You don't want to over work a pie dough, so smush and smash lightly and deliberately. Once it's kinda mixed, you can add in cold water to finish it up. The slide show below shows the process. As you will see, I ball it up right in the dish and them work it out to cover the dish with my fingers :)
